New NVIDIA GeForce chip for Gamescom 2018

A previously announced public “GeForce Gaming Celebration” hosted by NVIDIA is rumored to be where the next GPU chip will be officially announced. The company has promised “spectacular surprises” for the event, according to Anand Tech.

There is credible reason why the event is said to be the official launch of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 11 GPU. It is the first GeForce-branded event for the tech giant, which makes it a perfect launch pad. Plus, the current generation of GPU chips is already nearing the end of its product cycle. For NVIDIA, this cycle usually lasts for 24-30 months.

The upcoming NVIDIA GPU may be designed to correspond to the current 4K G-Sync HDR monitors, according to PC World. This will make the gaming experience much better. The current generation, the GTX 1080 Ti is already equipped with 4K resolution on 60 frames per second.

While not much is known about the NVIDIA GPU, it may be built on the 12nm manufacturing process of TSMC. Plus, it could have GDDR6 RAM. As to the graphics architecture, it may be called Ampere, Volta or Turing.

This year’s Gamescom will run from August 21-25 in Cologne, Germany. The NVIDIA GeForce event will happen the day before the official start of the expo. The celebration event will start at 5:30 pm Central European Time/12:30 pm EST on August 20.
