The series is slated to hit the airwaves later this year on Sundays at 9 pm ET on AMC, and if speculations are to be believed, TWD 9 is coming up with scores of changes.

A premier entertainment portal had revealed a couple of months back that Andrew Lincoln, who plays the character of Rick Grimes and has been associated with The Walking Dead since its freshman season, would be bowing out of its season 9. And now, some more interesting details have come to the fore which are definitely going to pique the audience’s’ curiosity.

Entertainment Weekly has just raised the curtain on the very first image of The Walking Dead season 9. In the image, we can see Michonne (Danai Gurira) riding on horseback, followed by the likes of Siddiq, Enid, and Cyndie.

Divulging more details about the new season, showrunner Angela Kang said, “We’ll explore what happened as man-made objects and structures break down. Infrastructure like roads and bridges are changing and crumbling. And we’ll also explore what happens as resources are getting low.”

Talking more about the zombie-filled series, Kang added, “There’s a fun Western vibe that has emerged. We are going into a period where a lot of the things that we’ve seen in previous seasons have broken down, so they’ve got these horses and carriages that are being drawn around instead of cars.”

Fans, who cannot wait to get their hands on some exclusive details on The Walking Dead 9, should start counting days for the upcoming 2018 Comic-Con that takes place on Friday, July 20 from 12:15 pm.-1:15 pm. PT in Hall H. Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Danai Gurira, Lauren Cohan, Melissa McBride, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan are the panelists. The event will also see the presence of executive producers Angela Kang, Scott M. Gimple, Robert Kirkman, David Alpert, Gale Anne Hurd, and executive producer, director, and special effects makeup supervisor Greg Nicotero. Yvette Nicole Brown will moderate the discussion.
