Epic presents MetaHuman Creator. This is what people will look like in future games

With the continuous announcements of promotions on the Epic Games Store, it’s easy to forget that this platform is just one of Epic Games’ ventures. After all, Tim Sweeney’s company is also a constantly developed and extremely popular Unreal Engine. We could see a sample of the fifth edition of this technology last year, but apparently it was just a foretaste of what the new generation of the EU will bring. Epic Games presentedMetaHuman Creator – a cloud tool that allows you to create and edit incredibly realistic digital actors. A sample of the software’s capabilities was presented on two videos posted on YouTube. The realism of “MetaChan” is not limited to the extremely detailed appearance of the face. The editor will allow you to create the entire hero model, including hair and clothing, ready for animation. The effect is to be comparable to that offered by high-budget productions. Most importantly, it will all be very simple: the entire process of creating a virtual actor is expected to take less than an hour instead of days or even weeks. In addition, once the project is completed, developers will be able to easily export a character to the game or transfer their data (for example, animation or model skeleton) to another project.

MetaHuman Creator is still at a fairly early stage of development. For now, the developers can check out only two models prepared by Epic Games that can be used in titles based on Unreal Engine version 4.26.1. An early version of the tool is expected to be ready for testing in the coming months.
