It seems that the jailbreak community will have something to celebrate. CoolStar’s Electra iOS 11.3.1 jailbreak tool has just been confirmed to support all devices up to iPhone X running iOS 11.3.1.

CoolStar’s Confirmation

According to official tweets by CoolStar, the developer of Electra Jailbreak, has confirmed that the iOS 11.3.1 jailbreak will work on all iOS devices including iPhone X.  CoolStar posted a series of tweets.

First, he noted his astonishment from the support he was receiving where many people sent donations as soon as he put up the donation portal. Second, he pointed out that there seem to be more people who are appreciative compared to the “naggers”.

Third, he expressed his regret when he was working on the 11.1.2 jailbreak where there was a statistical bias favoring the naggers. He admits that he screwed up handling the PR for the 11.0-11.1.2 jailbreak and expects that this time around it will be “drama-free”.

And finally, he talks about providing as much support for A10/A11 as possible, getting rootfs rw and have all of the existing functionality. But in case that doesn’t happen, then users will still get the root shell and SpringBoard tweaks.

Min Zheng’s Confirmation

In addition, Min Zheng, an engineer and security researcher for Alibaba, have also pushed out a working KPP bypass into the public domain. This kppless method is said to be another important part of a functional jailbreak solution which was also confirmed by Zheng himself. In his tweet he posted:

“This kppless (bypass kpp) method works for all arm64 devices,” along with a link, “Our new Research @bxl1989! iOS 11.3.1 jailbreak internals: Remount rootfs …. BTW, we will have 2 talks about Apple Security at @defcon , welcome to follow us.”
