DJI Phantom 5 To Arrive Shortly Since Mavic 2 Pro Already Debuted?
DJI has released the Mavic 2 Pro during its recently concluded event, the See the Bigger Picture. Though it’s just a few days after the launch of new drones, many drone enthusiasts were thinking that the DJI Phantom 5 would arrive shortly after the Mavic Pro 2.
DJI Mavic Pro and Phantom Series Background
According to DroneDJ, it was in September of 2016 when the Chinese tech company has launched the first Mavic Pro. This drone featured a 1/2.3” sensor that is able to capture 12-megapixel images and shoot 4K video. This drone has conveyed a hit to the DJI Phantom 4 because its camera had the same specs but can’t be folded for easy transport. With that beings aid, the DJI Phantom 4 was left behind because the market has started to switch to drones that feature smaller bodies but still armed with far-fetched specs and features on all levels.
With this, it really seems that the Phantom 5 would possibly be taken over by the newly released Mavic Pro 2. It is also worth noting that during that time, DJI launched a professional version of the Phantom 4, which was referred to as the DJI Phantom 4 Pro. This drone was announced along with the Inspire during an event, which was held during November of 2016. The DJI Phantom 4 Pro sports a 1-inch sensor; it is capable of capturing 20-megapixel photos and shooting 4K video at 60fps.
Seeing this scenario, the fans of DJI can expect that the Phantom 5 will arrive shortly after the Mavic Pro 2 was launched. For some reference, the DJI Mavic 2 Pro is capable of shoot beautiful photos and videos as it features a Hasselblad camera. Apart from that, it is capable of flying at 44mph and can stay in flight for 31 minutes. Also, the minor tweaks with the Mavic Pro 2’s design like the bright LED’s, obstacle avoidance sensors, and internal storage have made it a more attractive choice this year.
On the other hand, the last upgrade from DJI to the Phantom series arrived in May with the Phantom 4 Pro V2.0. This sports the same camera, same body, and the same specifications. The only difference is that it has traded its Lightbridge transmission system for OcuSync. With that, it is really safe to assume that the Phantom series is due for an update after almost 2 years and that could possibly be in form of the Phantom 5.
DJI Phantom 5 Leaks
Despite that there are numerous Mavic pro 2 rumors that have surfaced all over the wire in the past few months; a possible Phantom 5 has also presented its face having a new camera. Even though the Phantom 5 body style appears to be the same but it might feature interchangeable lenses. In addition, DJI rapidly dismissed this as a limited-edition product for a single patron. But then, a company that is as huge DJI surely doesn’t like to waste state-of-the-art technology.
When it comes to the Phantom 5 release, there are no concrete details about that as of the moment. But with the Mavic 2 Pro on the heels of the Phantom 4 Pro, the launch is expected to be soon so that DJI doesn’t affect its own sales.
