DJI Phantom 5 To Launch Exclusively on 28 November? Find Out More Details
Chinese tech drone maker DJI just sent out invites to press and media members for an exclusive DJI event in New York on Wednesday, November 28. Their latest technology will be showcased on this event. Many are speculating that this is the unveiling of a DJI Phantom 5.
According to Trusted Reviews, the event has a travel theme, is titled “Because life is big!” and will start at 2 p.m. ET (7 p.m. GMT) to 4 p.m. ET (9 p.m. GMT) at Good Morning America Studios in Midtown Manhattan. There are no clues yet as to what is in store. However, the illustration looks like something is peering down on to a pool where people have a good time and seem to be traveling.
In the invite, the illustration also shows a planet with a ring like Saturn. This leads us to think that a new drone will be announced. The shape is similar to the Hasselblad lens on the recently announced DJI Mavic 2 Pro. This interchangeable lens could be seen on the upcoming DJI Phantom 5. After all, the Phantom Pro line is due for a refresh.
Back in May 2018, images of a Phantom drone surfaced online with interchangeable lenses and was speculated a prototype of the upcoming drone. DJI denied it and said that those were from the modified Phantom 4 Pro for an enterprise customer. Other reports suggest that the upcoming drone will offer different swappable lenses with focal lengths from between 15 millimeters to 50 millimeters. This will provide a wide-angle option matching the event’s theme.
The interchangeable lens system of the upcoming drone makes it different from DJI’s Mavic 2 range. This drone will retain the one-inch sensor from its predecessor and will likely be waterproof or rainproof for flying it out in the drizzle or over the sea. Extra sensors on all sides will come with near 360-degree obstacle detection. It will offer improved dynamic range and color depth. It could manage 35 minutes flight time and possibly beyond.
