The top-selling drone maker DJI seems to be working hard to get ready for the launch of the long-awaited DJI Phantom 5. Even if this is just a speculation, many people still hope it’s true. This is because the DJI Phantom 4 Pro V2.0 is still out of stock on the company’s online store until now since mid-November 2018.

According to DroneDJ, there are rumors that DJI Phantom 4 Pro V2.0 had an issue or shortage in terms of overpriced components from one or more suppliers. This is likely the reason the drone was out of stock temporarily. Another theory is the drone simply sold out prematurely to give way to the launch of the forthcoming drone.

Either way, the DJI Phantom 4 Pro V2.0 has been out of stock for two and a half months now. Various sources reported that the company is phasing out the drone and has stopped shipping them until further notice. This could be a good time to update the company’s lineup.

In terms of specification, DJI Phantom 5 will feature a completely redesigned body. It will have a more streamlined and aerodynamic body than the usual DJI Phantom drone design. This drone will be equipped with obstacle avoidance covering all its six sides. It will likely have a much higher top speed of 55 miles per hour (88 kilometers per hour). This is unlike the current Phantom with a maximum speed of 45 miles per hour (72 kilometers per hour).

In the photography department, the base camera will come with a Hasselblad-branded 1-inch sensor and 3x optical zoom. This means that there is a higher possibility of a Pro version of this forthcoming drone. If so, the camera will boost the interchangeable lenses (16, 24, 35, 50 millimeters). These lenses were seen in prototypes in early 2018.
