DJI Mavic 2 Rumors Roundup Ahead of August 23 Release
Expected to be released this year is the DJI Mavic 2 drones. With that being said, let’s review all the rumors that we know of, shall we?
The Upcoming Event
This month on the 23rd, DJI will be hosting the “See the Bigger Picture” event at 10:00 AM in the NY metro area. Reports suggest that on this event, the company will be the very least unveil its 2018 drones.
Originally, this event was supposed to be held back on July 18 last month. However, it was postponed by the company because the “user experience and standard of innovation factors” were not up to the desired level.
What Can We Expect At The Event? How Many Drones Will Be There?
As of now, based on the previous reports, we know that there are at least 3 models. Last month, leaked images of the ‘Enterprise’ and a ‘Mavic 2’ drones were spotted online. In terms of overall design, the two seems similar, except for the strips (red and white) on both sides, and the accessory attached on top of the drone and the camera which seems to be changeable.
Again, last month, there was another leak. This time around it involves the Mavic 2’s ‘Pro’ and ‘Zoom’ version. The leak was made by Argos, a British catalog retailer operating in the United Kingdom and Ireland. The said drones will feature:
- 1080p video transmission
- 8km transmission distance
- Max speed of 20m/s
- It has a compact size
- 31 minutes of flight time
- The omnidirectional obstacle sensing with APAS and Active Track 2.0
- “Dolly Zoom” but this is only for its Zoom version.
After the leak was made, a man named Isa Turan contacted DJI via Facebook to ask whether the leak was true. Fortunately, the company replied and has this to say:
So to sum it up, we have the Enterprise version and then two versions of the Mavic 2 (Pro and Zoom). However, given that these are only based on previous reports, it is best to take it with a pinch of salt, because who knows, maybe there is a Pro, Zoom and standard version of the Mavic 2.
The Price Tag
Regarding the price tags, sadly, we don’t have any solid information about it yet. However, one report suggests that it could $1299 (£983) which is based on the current price of the Mavic Pro which costs £899.
