Mysterious High-End DJI Drone With Interchangeable Lens Feature Spotted, May Be Phantom 5X?

Gather around drone fans because we got new information regarding DJI’s next drone. Apparently, the company has a mysterious Phantom drone.

The Leaked Video

Verified drone pilot on DJI BBS OsitaLV posted a 15-second video on his Twitter account last October 2, 2018. On the video, it features an unreleased version of the Phantom with interchangeable camera lenses. Speaking of interchangeable lenses, this is a feature that’s found on higher-end professional drones like the Inspire 2.

Wait… Is This The Phantom 5 X?

Last August of 2018, an article was published talking about an upcoming “Phantom 5 X” that was expected to come at DJI’s “See the Bigger Picture” event. What’s interesting about this drone is that according to the report DJI was having some trouble with its production so its release date was pushed to late 2018.

Furthermore, in the same article, there was even a video featuring what’s supposed to be the prototype. The video is a minute long where a woman operates the said drone.

However, there are a few issues with the video:

  • The first issue is that the video was uploaded way back in November of 2015.
  • The second issue is if you look at its comment section in YouTube and the dislikes, it doesn’t seem very promising.
  • Lastly, the third issue, comparing it to the video posted by OsitaLV, the two seems a bit different. Perhaps because the other one is a prototype? Who knows.

So What Is It Then?

According to a report, DJI gave out a statement saying that the drone featured on OsitaLV’s video is not a prototype for the next Phantom. In reality, the drone in question is a modified Phantom 4 Pro drone which was designed for an enterprise client to serve specific application needs. Furthermore, to add salt to injury, this drone is not available for public sale.

So, what do you think? Is it really a modified Phantom 4 Pro drone? Tell us in the comment section below.
