Dell Surface Phone Codenamed ‘Januss’ To Feature Snapdragon 850, Windows 10 On ARM
It seems that Microsoft isn’t the only one that’ll have a Surface Phone as Dell might use that moniker as well. Dubbed as Dell Surface Phone, the upcoming ‘Januss’ codenamed device might flaunt Snapdragon 850, Windows 10 on ARM and more.
According to WinFuture’s Roland Quandt, he saw the documents signifying that Dell has been working on a Windows 10 handset that’s code-named “Januss” since mid-2017. Although it’s still under development this device is said to flaunt two displays.
The alleged Dell Surface Phone is rumored to be engineered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 850 processor, which is really interesting for some reasons. First is that Qualcomm hasn’t essentially announced that chipset yet. Secondly, the rumor has it that the upcoming processor is essentially a Snapdragon 845 that’s been intended explicitly for Windows 10 devices. Aside from that, it’s expected to run at greater frequencies than the smartphone variety of the chipset.
Moreover, it is also believed that the upcoming foldable phone from Dell will be equipped with at least one USB Type-C port for charging and data. It can also have multiple cameras, and tablet-like sensors like a compass, accelerometer, and gyroscope.
As of now, it is unclear if the Dell Surface Phone ‘Januss’ is a smartphone, a tablet, or some sort of fusion laptop and tablet with a touchscreen display. Nonetheless, it will most possibly be an “always connected” gadget with an assimilated 4G LTE modem. That would place it in the same type as other Windows on ARM devices like the HP Envy x2, Lenovo Miix 630, and Asus NovaGo.
Additionally, it is worth emphasizing that these details are just based on rumors; thus, these are advised to be taken with skepticism. So, what can you say about the purported Dell Surface Phone code-named Januss? Do you think it could be a competitor to the long-rumored Microsoft Surface Phone?
