Upcoming Chromebooks Rumored to Feature Qualcomm Snapdragon 845
A lot of devices are expected to be equipped with the recently launched chipset from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 845. Latest tech news today suggests that upcoming Chromebooks might sport the same processor as well.
According to Android Authority, the Chromium repository is the code base where the open source files and records for Chrome exist. It’s preserved by Google and targets to help third-parties generate products for the Chrome OS.
Recently XDA Developers spotted references to a new board overlay in the Chromium repository which was called “cheza.” Apart from that, it was also revealed that the device that would work together with a chip known as “chipset-qc845.” This is speculated to signify the Snapdragon 845, and it’s a name that appears numerous times throughout the repository.
With that beings aid, this might be the first Qualcomm Snapdragon-powered Chromebook to hit the market shelves. Nevertheless, it can be recalled that a speculation, which instigated from Google employees stated that Qualcomm wouldn’t be involved in the Chromebook market. This is because of the company’s unwillingness to provide long-standing Chromebook support.
But then, latest tech news today suggests that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 would make a great processor for a Chromebook. With the lightweight nature of the Chrome OS, Chromebooks usually deliver battery life that can outdo traditional laptops.
In contrary, things might have changed still since there reports that Qualcomm recently publicized its support for Windows laptop systems. These computers will reportedly sport an up to 25-hour battery life and will be packed with LTE connectivity; the features that would also go down fit on Chromebooks.
