Apple Watch Series 4: Release Date, Price and What To Expect
Just a few weeks from now will be September which is a big month for Apple as the company is expected to announce a number of new devices. One of which is the Apple Watch Series 4. With that being said, here are the things that you should know about the said smartwatch.
The Release Date
The current model was announced on September 12, 2017, and then went on sale 10 days later. With this, it’s highly expected that this year’s model will also follow suit. In case you’re not convinced, here is the timeline of the previous models’ release dates:
- First-generation – April 24, 2015
- Second-generation – September 16, 2016
- Third-generation – September 22, 2017
Given that April has already long passed, it’s already out of the question. But for the second and third releases, well, unless the company decides to switch things up or there could be some technical issues that could cause a delay, we can expect that Apple Watch 4 will be released next month.
The Price Tags
With the current model, it features two price tags. The model which has cellular costs £399 ($507), while the other without cellular costs £329 ($418).
What To Expect From Its Specs and Features?
Mac Observer’s John Martellaro shared his opinions about it. But first, let’s have a quick introduction about him, shall we?
He graduated with a degree in astrophysics (B.S.) and physics (M.S.). He has worked for large companies such as NASA, Apple, etc. During his time at Apple, he worked as a Senior Marketing Manager, a Federal Account Executive, and a High-Performance Computing manager.
The Rounded Design
According to him, one rumor he discounted is the rounded design. Compared to traditional watches, modern smartwatches need to display a lot of graphics and text data to a rectangular design is preferable.
Thinner And Longer Battery life
Speaking of design, another rumor he questions is that the Apple Watch Series 4 will be thinner and yet will have a longer battery life. Although shaving a millimeter or two from the device’s thickness is possible to make it look cooler, there are things that needed be considered.
According to him, the logic board, and related circuits and sensors will have to be reduced. And if the case is slightly bigger, then the battery could be expanded. Furthermore, regarding its battery, he also believes that the charging speed will be improved.
The next thing he cited is the design of the current smartwatches from Apple. He notes that the blood glucose measurement system depends on human sweat measurement, which is why he finds it questionable that the back of the Apple watch is taken up by sensor pulse monitoring.
On the other hand, last December, a report was made about Apple developing an EKG Heart Monitor. According to the report, it will be implemented in its future smartwatches.
Other Rumored Features
There was also a rumor mentioning that the upcoming smartwatch will sport a camera for Face ID and selfies to which he concludes has a very low probability rate. Rather than a camera, he believes that solid state haptic side buttons have a higher probability.
