Apple No Longer Signing iOS 11.3.1 - Jailbreak and Downgrade No Longer Possible
Apple has stopped signing iOS 11.3.1. So anyone who is on iOS 11.4 or beta versions of iOS 11.4.1 and iOS 12 can no longer switch back for jailbreak purposes.
No Longer Signing In
In the past few days, the jailbreak community has been receiving a lot of good news and it’s not surprising that many were glad about it. This includes Ian Beer releasing an exploit, CoolStar who already confirmed that he is going to update Electra jailbreak to iOS 11.3.1, and Abraham Masri who just recently released Houdini Beta 3.
Just last week, Apple officially released iOS 11.3.1 to the public. The new OS includes features such as AirPlay 2 multi-room audio, support for stereo pairs, Messages in iCloud, and other bug fixes and performance improvements.
Today, Cupertino company is no longer signing iOS 11.3.1 so users can no longer downgrade from iOS 11.4 for any reason, making it a disheartening news for the jailbreak community. Same goes as well for those who are on iOS 12.
As of now, Apple is currently beta testing both iOS 11.4.1 and iOS 12. It is believed that the full version of iOS 11.4.1 will be released soon while the iOS 12 later.
Are There Any Other Options or Advice?
There are still options to get around Apple’s decision. In case you have secured SHSH2 blobs while iOS 11.3.1 was still being signed in and you are on firmware like iOS 11.1.2, you still switch back using FutureRestore.
As for those who are currently on iOS 11.3.1, users should just stick to that firmware. The reason is that as soon as the Electra iOS 11.3.1 Jailbreak will be updated, it will support jailbreak on that firmware and come with full support for Cydia Installer and Substitute.
