Apple MacBook Air 2018: What We Want To See, Release Date, Price
This year, like the previous one, fans are hoping that Apple will release a new MacBook Air 2018. So what are the things that its fans want to see on the device? Well, let’s review them, shall we?
Release Date and Price Tag
But before we go into details on the things that people want to see or expect, let’s first talk about when it is going to be released. After that, let’s talk about its price.
As you may already know, the first MacBook Air was released 10 years ago on January 29, 2008, and year after year the company has released a new and updated of the device in largely different months during those years. As for the current model, it was released on June 5, 2017.
Regarding this year’s release, reports have been pointing towards two possible dates. One report suggests that it could be on September along with the 2018 iPhones. Another report suggests that it could debut in October or November, just in time for the holiday shopping rush.
For its price tag, there have been rumors that 2018 MacBook Air will be cheaper. Initially, it was expected to feature a price not so different from the 2017 model which starts at $999. However, recent rumors suggested that it could be priced lower in exchange that it could possibly be packed with a lower-priced ARM processor.
Top of the Line Processors
Just like any other new and upcoming device, we expect MacBook Air 2018 to be packed with the latest processors – especially from the tech company like Apple. In fact, Intel has even announced a wide range of 8th generation Coffee Lake processors for laptops so fans are expecting that this at least would be featured on the device.
A Better Screen
It’s quite unfair that compared to every other MacBooks, only the Air doesn’t feature Retina Display. In fact, those that feature Retina Display features at least 226 ppi (pixels per inch), while only the Air features 128 ppi or 1,400 x 900 pixels on a 13.3-inch panel.
Yeah, sure, the revised butterfly hinge keyboard on the MacBook and MacBook Pro is great, but it also comes with its flaws to which the company even admitted that it breaks too easily. With this, hopefully, the Cupertino company will stick with the traditional keyboard instead, not to mention that this could also keep the price low.
Fast Charging and More Battery Life
For the 2018 model, we expect it to come with faster-charging speed and more battery life. According to a review, the 2017 model was able to last 10 hours and 26 minutes which is considered to be very impressive given that its 2016 model can only last up to 8 hours and 45 minutes – according to another review.
Last June on the WWDC 2018, Apple revealed which iOS mainstays will be making their way to the macOS Mojave. It was reported that it will feature iOS core apps like News, Stocks, Home and Voice Memos. As for the third-party apps, they will soon make their way on the said OS in the future, but we will have to wait until 2019 to see it. We hope to see that the Air will be running on this firmware.
