Apple Beefing Up Production For LCD iPhones, Apple Watch Series 4 Coming With Game-Changing Features
This year, Apple fans have a lot to look forward to. The company is reportedly beefing up its production for its LCD models and expects that it make up the majority of this year’s iPhone sales, particularly iPhone 9. Furthermore, its Apple Watch Series 4 is reported to feature some game-changing features.
More LCD Models
According to Wall Street Journal (WSJ), Apple is developing production plans for less cheap iPhones due to customers’ reaction regarding the price of its iPhones. This year’s line-up includes two OLED models and one LCD model. The LCD model is said to be a 6.1-inch iPhone X Plus that could cost between $649 and $699.
Initially, the company’s plan was to make an even number of iPhones featuring LCD and OLED screens. But now, the company plans to produce more LCD units (no exact number was given) and expects that it will make up the majority of iPhone sales in its lineup to be released this fall. It was also reported that the same approach will be used for next year’s production of iPhones.
People Are Snubbing The iPhone X?
A group of unnamed analysts cited by WSJ noted that the demand for the iPhone X was weaker, mainly due to its $999 price tag. Last month, the analysts had a chance to speak with the Cupertino company regarding its iPhone sales. The company said that the $999 iPhone was the best-selling of its eight smartphone models during the three months ended in March.
However, this seems to contradict what the analysts researched. According to their research, the top iPhone sales were the LCD models starting with the iPhone 8 ($699) and then followed by the iPhone 8 Plus ($799).
Who Will Provide OLED Displays For iPhones This Year?
Last year, Samsung was the sole supplier of OLED panels for the 2017 iPhone X with each costing than $100 while LCD screens cost $40 per panel. This year, aside from Samsung being the main supplier, LG is reportedly also likely to provide some OLED panels for the Cupertino company.
Apple’s Watch Series
According to Trusted Reviews, the Apple Watch Series 4 will be getting “game-changing” features. As for its released date, it is expected to be released this September.
Speaking of its features, aside from its Walkie-Talkie feature which allows users to exchange short voice messages with a quick tap on their watch face, it will feature Apple’s Tactic Engine which reacts to pressure rather than physical press. With this, it will also allow the watch to improve its water resistance, be packed with a larger battery, and possibly integrate new sensors into these buttons to provide users with more health data.
