Apple iPad Pro 3 Will Feature Same Screen Resolution, 5.9mm Thick And No Headphone Jack
The iPad Pro 3 (aka iPad Pro 2018) is one of the highly anticipated tech gadgets this year. This time around, the said tablet was spotted in mobile app analytics platform Appsee suggesting it will feature the same screen resolution of the 2017 models. On the other hand, a rumor suggests the upcoming tablet could be 5.9mm thick with no headphone jack.
Founded in 2012 and headquartered in New York, Appsee offers a robust, qualitative app analytics platform that enables mobile teams to obtain crucial insights that they simply cannot obtain from other analytics systems. On the company’s official website, you may view User Session Recordings, Touch Heatmaps, Crash Reporting, And Videos, and Real-time Analytics & Alerts to help you understand the exact reasons behind the data while zoning in on user behavior.
According to MacRumors, Appsee informed them those model identifiers…
- iPad 8,2
- iPad 8,4
- iPad 8,5
- iPad 8,8
…began to appear in its device logs starting August 1 which are believed to represent the iPad Pro 3. But what’s really interesting is that the new iPad Pro models appear to have the same display resolutions of the current 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch models.
With the iPad8,1 to iPad8,4, they feature a screen resolution of 1112×834 points. Meanwhile, iPad8,5 and iPad8,8 sports 1,366×1,024 points.
Please note that “point resolution” is not “pixel resolution” these are two different things. With the iPad Pro, it uses Apple’s high-resolution @2x modifier where every point has four pixels. As such, the results will be:
- 1112×834 (2) = 2,224×1,668 pixels – The same screen resolution of the 2017 10.5-inch iPad Pro.
- 1,366×1,024 (2) = 2,732×2,048 pixels – The same screen resolution of the 2017 12.9-inch iPad Pro.
Furthermore, although the iPad Pro 3 models with Face ID will have the same-size 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch displays, and retain 4:3 aspect ratios, the overall dimensions of both tablets are likely to shrink. This is because the 2018 models are said to feature a design similar to the iPhone X with an all-screen design.
5.9mm thick With No Headphone?
Speaking of overall dimensions, there’s this “leak” that’s been reported by news publishing sites. According to the tweet posted on 12 October 2018, the upcoming iPad Pro 3 will not feature a headphone jack and its thickness will be 5.9mm – the 2017 models featured 6.1mm and 6.9mm respectively.
Of course no headphone jack on the upcoming new iPad. 5.9mm thickness is pretty good though.

However, what’s really interesting to point out is CoinCoin’s profile. The account was created back in November 2017. At the moment, the profile has 10 tweets, 53 following, and 118 followers.
We (73Buzz) also did a Google search about CoinCoin’s track record/reputation by typing: “coincoin leaks”, “coincoin twitter leaks”, “@coiiiiiiiin leaks”. So far reports have only reported about his/her recent 2018 iPad Pro leak.
With this, in terms of credibility, it’s hard to say because there are too many factors to be considered. However, this does go in line with a leak posted at Slashleaks on 11 October 2018 suggesting that the upcoming iPad Pro 3 will be 5.86mm thick. Perhaps CoinCoin was quoting this leak?
But what about the headphone part? Well, this rumor has been mentioned last July of 2018 by Macrumors quoting a report by Japanese site Mac Otakara.
But hey, if you have more information regarding his/her track record, do tell us in the comment section. Also, are you excited about the iPad Pro 3? We would like to hear from you.
