Apple AirPods 2: Here's What To Expect
One of the highly expected tech gadgets this year is the AirPods 2. Let’s face it, with brand new iPhone models expected to come next month, a cool-looking pair of earphones should also come as well to match it. With that being said, here are the things that you need to know about the said device.
When Is It Coming?
The current model was introduced way back on September 7, 2016, alongside the iPhone 7 and Apple Watch Series 2. It was originally scheduled to be released in late October but was delayed and pushed to December 13, 2016, instead.
The following year, tech enthusiasts were expecting a successor to come – AirPods 2 – which sadly didn’t come at all. In fact, all we got were firmware updates in February and May of 2017.
For this year, last June, Bloomberg reported that it will come in 2019 to which analysts from Barclays agreed. Reports suggest that it could be launched in spring – presumably on March. As for how accurate this information is, only time will tell.
How Much Will It Cost?
With the current model, one of the criticisms AirPods has faced was its price tag which currently sits at $159. But hey, Apple isn’t really known for budget-friendly price tags, right? As of now, reports are suggesting that the AirPods 2 will come in at the same or similar price.
It is predicted to be packed with an upgraded wireless chip – presumably, the W2 that’s found on the Apple Watch Series 3. With this chip-on-board, it will feature 85 percent faster Wi-Fi and 50 percent more power-efficient Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
For the upcoming AirPods 2, exciting new features are said to be coming. These features are:
- A new Siri feature where users will have to tap on the device to activate the virtual assistant
- Noise cancellation
- Wireless charging
- Water resistance
- Biometric sensors for heart-rate
