Apple AirPods 2, Cheaper HomePod 2 Will Come Next Year’s Holiday Season As 3D Touch Might End This Year?
Everyone is getting excited for what is coming next month and the coming months before this year ends from the tech giant Apple. This does not stop some analysts from making more predictions on what might the company has in store for next year.
According to Apple Insider, the analysts from Barclays just toured China last week to meet up with Chinese chain suppliers to Apple. Their research note tells us that the AirPods 2 will arrive in time for a holiday season launch next year. This note is opposite to the other previous reports that suggested an early 2019 release for the updated device.
This report is not new anymore because these new units are expected to boost water resistance against rain and sweat similar to smartphones. This might feature a better noise canceling technology. These features will likely make the updated device to offer a higher price than the current AirPods now available on the market at the price of $159.
This new AirPods 2 might be updated with the support of “Hey Siri.” This device will probably be available as “pro” SKU. The W2 chipset will make significant improvements for the upcoming earbuds. The strong demand for this device is estimated to reach near 26 million sales.
The tech giant is also predicted to be working on a smart speaker HomePod 2 for next year with the Beats branding. The cheaper price is intended to appeal to a wider audience in the market. This will not be as expensive as the current $349 model now on the market.
This report is also not new anymore because previous reports claimed that this cheaper version will be launched before the end of this year. The original HomePod version was introduced in February. This is a higher possibility that the company will follow the tradition and could also be the launch month, or we could all wait until the holiday shopping season. Either way indicates the coming of HomePod 2 into the market.
Lastly, the company might get rid of the 3D Touch feature on its devices for good starting next year. The supply chain widely understood that the iPhones lineup in the fall of 2019 will no longer have the feature.
So far, this is the most controversial prediction from these analysts because these plans are not yet finalized making it possible to happen right away next year or not at all. Then, the main reason the future iPhones lacking this feature is still unclear even if the 3D Touch is doing great on the current iPhone X.
All of these predictions are from the supply chain that has not been good at predicting the tech giant’s product plans. The company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Tim Cook has already warned all of us in 2013 when his company had a conference call on their quarterly earnings.
Cook cautioned about basing assumptions on the supply chain as a source of data is quite complex. The reports may produce differently, and the supplier performance may vary making it not reliable and recommended.
