Given the fact that in today’s world, smartphones are now proven to be a necessity for both business and entertainment purposes. One of the biggest players in the industry, Samsung, already launched their 2018 flagship phones and their closest rival, Apple is yet to launch their new iPhone lines probably in the 3rd quarter of the year.
Other players like Huawei, LG, HTC, Sony and OnePlus also released their flagship model and some consumers are still waiting for other companies like Xiaomi and Google for their star players. With so many choices, we will overview the best in this year’s class and if upgrading to this year’s flagship model is worth it.
The company has taken the conservative approach and didn’t announce any handset in the WWDC event recently but the news is spreading around the community that the new line of iPhones will be in stores this September. The company will likely feature 3 new generation of iPhone X to the consumer and many will line up once again in the Apple store to see what are the new phones from Apple this year. We don’t have concrete details yet about the names of the line but it is said that it will come with 3 cameras at the back.
Samsung Galaxy Note 9
Samsung’s Flagship phones are now available in stores except for this one. It is believed that Samsung will unveil their Phablet line later this year. Right now, the company is not yet providing full details about the specs and features but it will be far better than what the current S9 got.
Xiaomi Mi 8
Announced last May and destined to be a successor for the Mi 6 model, this Chinese-based company is making an impact in the smartphone arena. With Android 8.1 as its software and paired with a dual-camera setup at the back and a 20MP selfie camera. The phone also got USB-C and inside the hood, an octa-core processor together with 6GB of RAM and the phone is around $500 which is a good fit for your budget.
Google Pixel 3 and 3 XL
Said to become available this October as compared with the previous launch of its predecessor, this smartphone proved that it is one of the best in the class. Back in 2017, Droid-Life revealed that Crosshatch, Albacore, and Blueline are the Pixel Phones for 2018. Google did a great job keeping their mouth shut and didn’t provide concrete details about the phone’s specs but sure enough that it would be a great one.
If you love loudspeakers, this is the phone for you. All-glass design and comes with one model that has a translucent backside, this phone will surely be a show stopper. The phone comes with 6-inch QHD display and under the hood, it has Snapdragon 845 processor and 6GB of RAM. The phone is a bit pricey with a tag of $800.
LG V35 ThinQ
Another addition to the V series from LG, it gives us a 6-inch of OLED display and nicely curved corners. Powered by Snapdragon 845 with 6 GB of RAM and got a 3,300mAh of battery capacity. Although made from glass, it has an IP68 certification same as the other flagships. It is priced around $900.
3 new phones under this line, the Moto Z3, Z3 Play and Z3 Force that is expected to hit the stores this late-July. The Z3 line comes with 6-inch FHD display and will have Snapdragon 845 as the processor. The lowest tier for the Z-series cost around $500.
Razer Phone 2
Known as a hardcore gaming computer manufacturer, they now expanded their horizon by entering the smartphone races and it seems like they are a force to be reckoned with. The first version of their phone is excellent and the Razer Phone 2 could be phenomenal. It is said to become available around the last part of this year.
With a 5.7 FHD+HDR display seems to be great for conserving the 3180mAh battery in the phone. The camera from Sony is not an outlier when it comes to producing a good quality image and this is what you get from this phone. It has a single camera setup with a 19MP Motion Eye sensor. It is currently priced at around $650.
