What Apple Didn't Announce At March 2019 Event- AirPower, AirPods 2, iPod Touch 7
Yesterday, Apple hosted its March event at the Steve Jobs Theatre, Apple Park. At the event, the Cupertino-based tech company has announced Apple News+, Apple Card, Apple Arcade, Apple TV+, and iOS 12.2.
For this article, we will be focusing on the Apple products that tech enthusiasts were expecting to be announced at the event but didn’t appear.
Last week, Apple announced a new version of the AirPods (Apple simply refers to it as “AirPods”, not AirPods 2) along with a Wireless Charging Case. However, what’s not present was the AirPower.
This device was announced back in September 2017 alongside the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X. It was initially expected to be released sometime in 2018 but that didn’t happen. It was then expected to be released in March 2019 alongside the new version of the AirPods. However, that didn’t happen as well.
So when is it coming? It’s hard to say. But we do know that it exists, thanks to an shared on Twitter which features the AirPods Wireless Charging Case packaging.

As you can see, the box for the AirPods Wireless Charging Case clearly shows the pill-shaped AirPower design on the back.
As for its release date, it’s unclear. Some are saying it could be in June at WWDC or in September at the iPhone event? It’s basically a waiting game.
7th-Generation iPod Touch
The second item was expected to be released in the first half of 2019, presumably in March 2019 is the 7th-gen iPod Touch. Unfortunately, there has been no sign of it all.
But does it really exist though? Well, according to a report, back in January, Japanese site Mac Otakara reported that a 7th generation iPod touch is in the works. The following month, we also had well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicting that an iPod touch with a faster processor is coming.
So when is it coming? As we mentioned earlier, it’s expected to be released in the first half of 2019. If that doesn’t happen, we can look at the release date of the 6th-gen model which first appeared in July 2015, or we can expect the new iPod Touch to come either in June at WWDC 2019 or in September at the iPhone event — assuming that it’s coming this year.
Which of these two are you looking forward to the most? When do you think they will be released? Tell us in the comment section below.
