AirPods 2 Will Outshine The Apple Watch, Here's How
One of the Apple products that’s expected to be released in early 2019 or first half of 2019 is the AirPods 2 which is why it comes to no surprise that people are always on the lookout for new details about it. This time around, reports suggest that the said wireless earpiece could be a greater health monitoring device than the Apple Watch.
Apple’s Has Been Preparing For Years
According to the report, the AirPods was released in December of 2016. However, as early as 2015, Apple had applied for 3 patents to do with EarBuds with Biometric Sensing and these weren’t known about until after they were approved in early 2017.
Although some of the patents didn’t resemble the AirPods, some did. There was even a 2014 Apple patent that depicted a sensor-packed health monitoring headphone with ‘head gesture’ control.
It was only until September 2018 that users finally get the experience at least a part of the technology with the release of the iOS 12. The firmware came with Live Listen which helps hearing.
So what about the rest of the technology depicted on the patents? Well, the way we see it, there are two possibilities. One is that it could come as an update on the iOS 13, and the other is that it could be a built-in feature of the AirPods 2.
However, there is also a third possibility.
The Problem With Patents
Although patents give us an idea on what tech companies are doing behind closed doors and predict their future products, patents aren’t a 100 percent guarantee the concept featured on the patent will appear in a future product. There are cases that they may not even see the light of day. This is the third possibility.
Rumored Features Of The AirPods 2
The AirPods 2 will come with voice control which will allow the user to talk to Siri without having to reach for their iPhone. Other rumored features include noise cancellation and water resistance.
