Actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II Set To Star In Netflix Series 'All Day and a Night'
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, the actor behind some high-profile roles such as in the television series The Get Down, is slowly and steadily making his mark in Hollywood. The 31-year-old actor, who kicked-off his career with the Baz Luhrmann’s musical series The Get Down just two years ago, has already starred in some amazing movies like Baywatch (2017) and The Greatest Showman (2017). He has been roped in to play the lead villain Black Manta in DC’s forthcoming superhero movie Aquaman (2018). The latest we hear that Yahya is set to play a key character in the upcoming Netflix drama All Day and a Night.
The actor will join talented actors Ashton Sanders and Jeffery Wright in the series. Besides Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Ashton Sanders and Jeffery Wright, Golden Globe winner Regina Taylor and Kelly Jenrette, who recently bagged an Emmy nomination for her role in The Handmaid’s Tale 2, is also coming on board to play some crucial characters. Isaiah John, Shakira Ja-nai Paye, and Andrea Lynn Ellsworth are also part of the ensemble cast of the series.
The makers are planning to mount All Day and a Night on a large scale, and the ensemble star cast of the series is just a sneak peek at the magnitude of it. The series has been written by Black Panther (2018) co-writer Joe Robert Cole, who will helm it as well. It will be his second directorial after he previously wrote and directed the thriller Amber Lake in 2011.
Though nothing much is known about the plot of the series, some reports mention that it revolves around a young criminal who, after being arrested and imprisoned, looks back on the days preceding his arrest and the circumstances of his childhood in a hope to find clues to his way forward in life and his survival. The series will be told in three parallel narratives.
Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson are producing All Day and a Night under the banner of Color Force banner. Jared Ian Goldman is also one of the producers of the series.
