Expected to come this year is a new 31.6-inch Apple Display and the modular Mac Pro 2019. These two are reportedly going to be announced together.

For this article, we will be focusing on the 31.6-inch Apple Display. With that being said, here are the things you need to know about it.

February 2019 – Display Size, Resolution And More

Back in February, well-known and reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that the new and upcoming Apple Display will feature a 31.6-inch display.

As for the resolution, the analyst said that it will be 6K3K. According to a report, this 6K3K refers to the standard 6K resolution of 6,144 x 3,072 which at a 31.6-inch diagonal size will yield a pixel density of roughly 217 ppi.

Lastly, he also said that the 31.6-inch Apple Display will feature “outstanding picture quality thanks to its adoption of the Mini LED-like backlight design.”

April 2019 – Mini-LED And Release Date

This month, Kuo released another report which lays out Apple’s product interest in mini-LED technology. In the report, he also mentions the 31.6-inch Apple Display.

According to a report, the 31.6-inch Apple Display with 6K resolution could be launched in Q2 (April – June) or Q3 (July – September) of 2019.

Kuo said that the Apple monitor will use a “mini-LED like backlight unit” with larger LEDs. With the use of the mini-LED backlighting, it will in return offer a few positive features that tech enthusiasts will surely love once they get their hands on the product, such as:

  • Apple screen will have more power efficient backlighting that allows for more accurate blacks and improved contrast.
  • Mini-LED backlighting will allow the panels to be thinner, resulting in a slimmer design overall.
  • Although it won’t match OLED in terms of performance, mini-LED backlighting is not susceptible to burn in.

As we’ve mentioned earlier, the 31.6-inch Apple Display and Mac Pro 2019 are expected to be announced together. In fact, reports have suggested that these two will be presented at WWDC 2019 which is scheduled from Monday, June 3 to Friday, June 7.
