New 2019 Microsoft Surface Phone "Andromeda" Concept Design Spotted
How many years has it been since we started hearing about Microsoft’s mythical device – the Surface Phone? It’s been far too long, right? Over the years, at least every month we’ll be hearing about it, ranging from leaks, rumors, and official talks.
So what new details do we have this time about Microsoft’s 2-in-1 device that’s less of a phone and more of a portable, fordable PC? Well, YouTube channel Concept Creator published a video showcasing a concept design for the Microsoft Surface Phone Andromeda.
The Concept Design
The video published by Concept Creator is 2 minutes and 6 seconds long. The Surface Phone featured on the video features two displays attached together forming one big screen which can also be folded together to transform into a regular size handset.
On 0:25, we can see that it feature a headphone jack. Meanwhile, on 0:40 we can see that it features what looks like a USB-C port on the bottom part of the right display.
When Is It Coming?
Last month, a report was published regarding the release date of the Surface Phone Andromeda, basing it from a book called “Beneath a Surface”. The report notes that foldable device could be launched next year probably in Q4 of 2019.
Earlier this month, we also published an article regarding the Surface Phone’s release date. On our report, we quoted an article from Thurott published back in July 2018 noting that sources inside of Microsoft say that the next possible release of Microsoft’s foldable device could be in 2019 with expectations being later in the year.
Microsoft Surface Phone vs Samsung Galaxy X
Speaking of release dates and foldable devices, Samsung’s long-rumored Galaxy X (aka Galaxy Fold) is also expected to come this year. Given that both the Surface Phone and Galaxy X are mythical devices that been long rumored over the years, tech enthusiasts can’t help but compare the two and wonder which is better.
According to reports, the Galaxy X won’t launch until the first half of 2019 and was expected to appear at CES 2019 (January 8-11) or MWC 2019 (February 25-28). Although it wasn’t publicly shown at CES 2019, there was apparently a private viewing.
This time around, latest leaks a hinting that the Galaxy X will be unveiled on Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at the upcoming SAMSUNG Galaxy UNPACKED event in London at 7:00 pm GMT. Moreover, the South Korean tech company has confirmed that they will launch the Galaxy S10 on that event.
