2019 AirPods / AirPods 2 Support Jailbroken Devices Running iOS 12 - iOS 12.1
Gather around, jailbreak fans. We’ve got some good news for you, especially to the ones who love their AirPods. Apparently, the AirPods 2 can be used on iOS 12 to iOS 12.1 jailbreak.
The AirPods 2 Is “Jailbreak-Friendly”
Last week, Apple updated its wireless earpiece. Although the Cupertino-based tech company refers to the new AirPods as “AirPods”, not “AirPods 2”, we will just be calling it “AirPods 2” or “2019 AirPods” to avoid confusion between the first and second generation models.
Apple said that the AirPods 2 requires iOS 12.2 in order to function. This no doubt was seen as a problem for those who are on an iOS firmware prior to iOS 12.2, especially to the ones who are into jailbreaking.
Turns out, Apple was just pulling our legs.
Apparently, the AirPods 2 can still be used on jailbroken devices running on iOS 12 to iOS 12.1. So far there weren’t any issues (except for one) as the new wireless earpiece just works fine.
What’s the only issue? Well, the hands-free “Hey Siri” does not work unless you are using an iOS 12.2 device.
Is it a big deal that this feature is not available? Well, the depends on the user. Nevertheless, at least it works.
The Second-Gen AirPods
The 2019 AirPods features two price tags. The first one is $159 which comes with the standard charging case, while the second one is $199 which comes with the new Wireless Charging Case.
One of the highlights of the 2019 AirPods is its H1 chip. टीhanks to its H1 chip, it allows the new AirPods to:
- Deliver up to two times faster switching between active devices
- 50 percent faster when transferring a call to your AirPods
- Deliver 30 percent lower gaming latency
What are your thoughts about the AirPods 2? To those sporting jailbroken devices running on iOS 12 to iOS 12.1, does it bother you that the hands-free “Hey Siri” isn’t available? Tell us in the comment section below.
