Apple Mac Mini 2018 Rumors: Release Date, Price, Wishlist
It has been years since Apple has released the Mac mini and fans are hoping that this could be the year that it will finally arrive. With that being said, here are the things that you need to know about the Mac Mini 2018.
Will It Come This Year?
First, let’s review the previous official release dates. The first model was released back on January 22, 2005, and give that January has already long passed, it’s out of the question. As for the second release date, it was released on October 16, 2014. With this, people are hoping that Apple could release it in October.
Another clue is a letter from Tim Cook himself addressed to a person named Krar dated October 19, 2017. On the letter, a very interesting line from Cook regarding the device can be read “while it is not time to share any details, we do plan for Mac mini to be an important part of our product line in the future.”
Now, although the Apple CEO didn’t specify the date, it’s important to note that this letter was back in 2017. Also, given the release dates of the previous models, we still have October. But hey, given that there are no official announcements, it’s best to take this information with a pinch of salt.
How Much Will It Cost?
Regarding the price tag of Mac Mini 2018, there are no leaks yet about it. So as of now, all we can do is review the price tags of its 2014 models. The models are:
- Low-spec model — $499
- Middle-spec model — $699
- High-spec model — $999
What Are People Expecting To See With The 2018 Model?
When it comes to the design, fans are hoping that it will have a nice makeover where it’s thinner, smaller and quieter. But speaking about its design, there was an old rumor in early 2017 suggesting that the high-spec model “won’t be so mini anymore”. Because of this, many were led to believe that it will be packing more powerful components which require more room for better cooling.
The next thing that people wants to see is a power boost where it can compete with small form PCs like Asus VivoMini and Intel NUC. In addition to this, fans are also hoping that Mac Mini 2 will have 4K support.
Lastly, another fan expectation is that it will come with a keyboard and mouse. With the previous models, customers had to purchase the Magic Mouse 2 and Magic Keyboard separately.
