MacBook Air 2018 Might Be Coming As Some 12-Inch MacBook Models Go Out of Stock
The tech giant Apple is traditionally known for updating their MacBook lineup sometime around March or April every year. However, the update of the 12-inch MacBook models this coming spring will not happen. This could be the reason to possibly give way for the MacBook Air 2018 release in either September or October.
According to Wccftech, the well-known online retailer Best Buy just ran out of the 12-inch MacBook models. The sold-out models are the 512GB Core i5 versions colored gold, space grey, and rose gold as well as the 256GB SSD original version of the rose gold. The 16GB RAM version is not sold in Best Buy but might be in the physical stores.
This indicates the probability that the company is gearing up for the new models while clearing up its inventory even if Best Buy will restock the said existing models. As of now, all versions of this device are still available on the company’s website.
The latest rumor from the Taiwanese research firm TrendForce also indicates the company’s plan to unveil the new MacBook Air 2018 at the end of the quarter. However, both the popular tech analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and Bloomberg News reporter Mark Gurman also reported a new entry-level notebook but did not identify what branding.
A random press release is being speculated to announce the launch even if Apple did not confirm this. This still coincides with both the iPhones 2018 event at the end of the third quarter or the start of the fourth quarter.
The MacBook Pro series have already been updated with the Intel’s seventh-generation Kaby Lake processors. Other earlier rumors suggest the iMac and Mac Mini will be upgraded this fall. Then, the new iPhones and iPads will be introduced on September alongside the new AirPods, the highly-anticipated Apple Watch Series 4 models with bigger screens.
