Surface Phone aka Andromeda Confirmed in Recent Build Codes
We have already reported that Surface Phone aka Andromeda’s hardware is in ready stage, while the software readiness remains a big question. However, if latest forms of the Windows Core OS Andromeda SKU in codes of fresh Windows 10 preview build and SDK is to believe, Microsoft is already working on the Windows Andromeda with either Windows 10 Version 1803 (slim chances) or Version 1809.
According to the reports, the traces of Andromeda SKU have been seen in the first Redstone 5 preview Build 17064. It should be noted that Andromeda OS is the mobile composable shell + modular Windows Core O that is rumored to fuel the foldable dual-screen Surface Phone aka Andromeda.
In a tweet, the leaker Diamond Monday has revealed the evidence. He tweeted claiming that there is a fresh SKU in Windows 10 .17604.1000.180209-1422.rs_prerelease product.ini, named “Andromeda=XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX”. The newly spotted SKU hints towards the continuation of the Andromeda project. Unfortunately, not much info regarding the Surface Phone has been noticed in any latest preview build.

Andromeda will reportedly be seen running the Win32 Centennial apps, as the Windows Core OS will be able to emulate them on ARM chipset that will power the device. Moreover, it is highly probable that Microsoft’s surface phone will boast a dual-screen display with a hinge. The device is said to run on Windows Core OS, and be powered by ARM processors.
Microsoft is currently experimenting with a variety of ideas recently, Surface Phone aka Andromeda is one of them. Reports also claim that tech giant might release the much awaited foldable phone in H2 2018.
