Samsung Reveals More Evidence On Galaxy X; Where Is Surface Phone?
Rumors about the Samsung Galaxy X and Microsoft Surface Phone have been floating around for the years. Several leaks and concept videos tried to give us a glimpse of how the flexible-display phone will look like. However, latest evidence from Samsung claims that we might actually see Galaxy X by 2019 at the very least.
Samsung seems to be quite open about its plans to launch a foldable phone. South Korean tech giant’s latest financial results suggest that it will launch by the end of 2018. The production of the Galaxy X might start this year, according to its Q4 2017 earnings statement. Samsung says that “in 2018 the display panel business will reinforce its competencies in new applications such as foldable [displays].” However, this doesn’t essentially mean the Galaxy X will be ready to launch this year, but it’s possible, that it will be ready to launch by 2019.
As of the moment, there are no concrete details on how the foldable phone might look like. However, some reports claim that the smartphone will simply fold on itself like a traditional clamshell flip phone. On the other hand, few reports claim that Galaxy X handset will have a folding screen, which can be extended out to 7.3 inches when it’s in use.
Where is Microsoft Surface Phone?
Unlike Samsung, Microsoft is keeping its cards close on the long-rumored Surface Phone. The Redmond based tech giant is reportedly working on the foldable phone, which is rumored to get unveiled at upcoming MWC 2018, as per several reports.
Microsoft hasn’t officially confirmed the existence of the Surface Phone but Microsoft China’s recent revelation about Surface Phone sparked the rumors about the foldable phone. After that, company’s job posting for a Video System Engineer, who can work on the Surface phone‘s camera tech, confirmed the speculation about the device. Recently, several patents claim that the upcoming device will be coming with a fully foldable display and it can be used as a tablet, PC, and smartphone.
It will be interesting to see what Samsung and Microsoft both have in their pockets. If rumors are anything to go by, then both Galaxy X and Surface Phone will actually take the mobile technology world by storm.
