OnePlus 6 To Feature Wireless Charging, Waterproof Design And Glass Body
The Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus will reportedly boast wireless charging feature in OnePlus 6. If it is proven to be true then the upcoming smartphone will be the first device from OnePlus to have the feature.
OnePlus is scheduled to launch OnePlus 6 before June 30th, as CEO Pete Lau confirmed the all-new flagship handset in the Q2 2018. It should be noted that the Chinese smartphone start-up’s second financial quarter runs from April 1st to June 30th.
Apart from the release date, the only thing which is confirmed is the top-of-the-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor for the next-generation smartphone. “Of course, there’s no other choice,” Lau told CNET for including SD-845 in the OnePlus 6 during the CES tradeshow in Las Vegas earlier this month. The device is expected to sport 6GB RAM with 64GB internal storage and run Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. OnePlus may also include the much needed waterproof feature in the upcoming OnePlus flagship.
However, the recently leaked images revealing about the design of the upcoming phone have offered some clues regarding the features intended for OnePlus 6. If the leaked photos are anything to go by then OnePlus might follow the latest trend in smartphones and opt for a glass back. Notably, Apple has already introduced glass rear panels back into iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X but OnePlus 6 will be the first smartphone from the company to boast the all-glass design.
Recently launched Nokia 8 Sirocco, Asus Zenfone 5, Sony Xperia XZ2, and ZTE Blade V9 all featured glass backs. LG G7 that was revealed behind-the-scenes at MWC 2018 also rumored to include a glass back and now OnePlus will also change its aluminum unibody design in favor of a glass back later this year.
This glass back rumor for the OnePlus 6 hints at the possibility for wireless charging on the deck. As the Apple embraced the Qi-standard for wireless charging last year, a swathe of third-party manufacturers has launched wireless charging pads. These works with a range of devices, from the Galaxy S9 to the iPhone X. This news might be some relief for consumers who were upset due to the iPhone X like the rumored notch for upcoming flagship.
The leaked images of OnePlus 6 reveal the design very similar to the Apple iPhone X. However, is advised that you shouldn’t panic quite yet as the release date is quite far from now and coming leaks might take the whole train in reverse. Stay tuned with us for more updates on OnePlus 6.
