TakKaran is known for making multi-starrers. Be it his debut movie Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001) or Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna (2006), he has always worked with the biggest stars of the industry. But his next directorial Takht is going to be really huge. It is the most ambitious project of his career, in terms of cast, magnitude, and scale, and we know he can pull it off.
Takht will be made under the banner of Dharma Productions. According to reports, the story of the movie revolves around two warring brothers Aurangzeb and Dara Shikoh of Mughal dynasty, who battle it out to inherit the throne of their father Shah Jahan. Ranveer Singh and Vicky Kaushal play Mughal brothers in the movie, while Kareena Kapoor Khan has been roped in for the role of their sister Jahanara Begum. Alia Bhatt will be Singh’s love interest in the film. Anil Kapoor might play Shah Jahan. There is no update on Bhumi Pednekar and Janhvi Kapoor’s characters.
Touted as the biggest historical magnum opus of Bollywood, Takht will enter cinemas in 2020. An official release date is yet to be locked by the makers.
