iPhone SE 2 To Release at WWDC 2018 Featuring Notch Display and Face ID
The tech giant Apple is currently reported to work on three iPhone models and said to be unveiled later this year, consisting of two OLED screen models and one with an LCD screen, which all feature notches. If it is true, then the low-cost iPhone SE 2 will be a new release as the second-generation iPhone SE. The device is speculated to launch on June 4 during the WWDC 2018 event.
According to Daily Mail, the original 4-inch iPhone SE was first launched in 2016 and was not updated since its release. Apple did not even confirm yet regarding the new successor. However, many specifications of the new iPhone SE2 are claimed online. The device is rumored to look similar to the current iPhone X from the front but a smaller variant though. Then, it might carry the predecessor’s design on the back.
In terms of specification, iPhone SE 2 is expected to have a glass back with support for wireless charging technology. It will retain the same iPhone 5s with body top and bottom bezels to house a front camera, an earpiece, and the Face ID sensors, instead of the Touch ID home button. The device will even retain the 3.5mm headphone jack with a 4-inch screen and aluminum build. In the photography department, iPhone SE2 is rumored to flaunt a dual-lens camera setup similar to the one seen in the current iPhone X.
In terms of pricing, the component being used to achieve the iPhone X notch design is quite expensive, such as the TrueDepth camera for the Face ID and other hardware requirements. This is the main reason that iPhone SE 2 will be cheaper than the current iPhone X but not too much as the predecessor. The device would likely cost around the current iPhone 8 prices.
