iPhone SE2: Rumored Release Date, Design and Price Update
For the people who are more interested in a new iPhone model which is cheaper but nevertheless powerful, then the iPhone SE2 is very tempting. So what can we expect from this upcoming Apple device?
The Release Date
According to Express, a “Chinese accessory maker” claimed that the iPhone SE2 won’t be unveiled until September. Meanwhile, well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes that the Cupertino company won’t be releasing the said device this year. Kuo’s reason is that Apple is releasing three new models for the second half of 2018, so he believes that the company may have already used up its development resources.
In an interview with Express, Jon Miller, managing director of electronic at musicMagpie said that in order for the iPhone SE2 to succeed this year, Apple may have to make some compromises. The “compromises” will involve its screen size, camera performance, and memory configuration.
He then added that it will maintain the traditional iPhone design (with bezels) – that is if the Cupertino company wants to implement FaceID to all tiers of the device rather than fingerprint ID. Lastly, he predicts that iPhone SE 2 will feature a “shrunken version” of the iPhone 8 design which means it will have Touch ID.
According to Tech Radar, the iPhone SE2 will be the most affordable in the 2018 iPhone lineup – that is if it will be released. The report notes that so far the device’s rumored price range is around $450, because the original iPhone SE started at $399 for its 16 GB variant but was later discontinued, and currently its 32 GB variant starts at $349.
