iPhone X2, Bigger iPhone X Plus, Cheaper iPhone 9/ iPhone SE2 Will Launch Simultaneously This Year To Rescue iPhone X
RBC Capital Markets analyst Amit Daryanai wrote his latest research note about the iPhone portfolio from the tech giant Apple and the chances of its success this year. He suggested that three iPhones will be simultaneously launched this year and might probably rescue the iPhone X.
According to Forbes, the first device is presumptively called iPhone X2, which is a follow-up to the iPhone X. The updated device will still continue the physical size and form of the predecessor. The bezel-reduced full-screen design will continue to be present with the contentious notch. Then, the second device is a bigger version of the iPhone X Plus and carries the same design cues of the 2018 flagship with a slight difference. A larger screen will push the notch design into the phablet space.
Finally, the third iPhone device will be a kind of cheaper plus-sized iPhone (iPhone 9/ iPhone SE 2). It will feature a 6.1-inch display retaining the LCD screen technology as seen in the current iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, which were announced on September 2018 and went on sale later on. This cheaper LCD iPhone might possibly offer 3D sensing. Daryanani is expecting the iPhone 9 / iPhone SE2 among the three iPhones to sell the best because of not only its potential for a larger-capacity battery but also the reasonable pricing around $650 or $700 like the current iPhone 8.
Many speculated that the launching of these three new more expensive iPhones will somehow reverse the falling sales figures of the company’s smartphones this year compared to last year. Daryanani still believes that the sales of the iPhone X will still continue to be a failure for the company and the suppliers since the current production for the new iPhones is expected to reach ~80-90M units for this year’s second half calendar.
