Did Samsung Accidentally Leak The Galaxy Watch 'Gear S4' On Its Website?

One of the highly anticipated smartwatches this year is Samsung Galaxy Watch (formerly known as Gear S4 in the rumors). This time around, an official retailing website of the company may have accidentally leaked the upcoming smartwatch.

The “Accidental” Leak

According to reports, a new and unknown smartwatch was spotted on Samsung’s US retail website. The first one to report this was CNET ’s, Scott Stein.

The model was a 42 mm rose gold variant and it looked a lot similar to the Gear S3 Classic. It had Bluetooth support and featured the model number SM-R810NZDAXAR.

If you’re planning to check it out for a closer look, you’re out of luck because it was already taken down. However, the site still hasn’t scrubbed the listing from the “Related Products” portion so you may still be able to view it somehow.

So Is This The Galaxy Watch?

A few months ago, it was reported that Samsung was working on a new smartwatch (Gear S4) bearing model number SM-R800 and codenamed Galileo. Now, comparing the “SM-R810” and “SM-R800” this awfully looks a bit similar.

The second clue lies with the recent patent reported last week which was officially filed to the FCC and revealed that it will carry the name “SAMSUNG GALAXY WATCH”. It featured the model numbers SM-R815U which is believed to be the model for the US and SM-R815W for Canada.

It comes with a case that measures in at 51.2mm x 43.4mm which quite notably is bigger for a watch, yet smaller for a smartwatch. Its display measures at 30.2 mm. Furthermore, it has LTE, WiFi and Bluetooth support.

With these two clues that talks about the model numbers, a number of reports suggested that the 42 mm rose gold variant recently spotted could be part of the Galaxy Watch. But hey, without any official announcements, it’s best to take this with a pinch of salt.

When Is The Release Date?

According to reports, Gear S4 or Galaxy Watch could be unveiled in the late August in Berlin at the IFA event (August 31 to September 5, 2018). Another report also claimed that it will appear alongside the Galaxy Note 9 and will go on sale in late August.
