CoolStar Discovered 0Day Bug In Apple’s APFS; iOS 12 Electra Jailbreak Possible?
CoolStar has publicized that the recently discovered 0day bug in Apple File System (APFS) will not be burned with the imminent iOS 11.3.1 Electra jailbreak. Instead, it will be saved for the iOS 12, which seems to indicate that an iOS 12 Electra jailbreak is possible.
CoolStar has been active on social media in the past days and the team also confirmed that it has discovered new bugs in APFS. It is worth noting that the file system that now exists in Apple’s iOS firmware and that CoolStar could possibly use one of those bugs as a portion of the iOS 11.3.1 Electra rebuild. This is to order to get passed a few concerns that are causing some problem. Nevertheless, by the team’s own admission, that solution could possibly be a “piece of crap,” which would also burn the aforesaid 0day bug.
found another 0day in APFS which is a much better remount…https://t.co/8vrR9BiM2u
it's just raining 0days in APFS

But despite that, it appears that there has been a change since the potential of burning the 0day is no longer being considered for the iOS 11.3.1 Electra jailbreak. This could be due to the alternative solution that has been discovered or the team has learned that the 0day bug might still be workable on Apple’s iOS 12 platform the moment it was publicly released.
As a matter of fact, CoolStar already confirmed that it will be saving this 0day bug for iOS 12. Also, the team also hoped that Apple will not discover the bug and patch it before the ultimate version of iOS 12 has been rolled out.
Moreover, it is worth emphasizing that this confirmation from CoolStar is important. First is that not burning the 0day suggests that the jailbreak team already found an alternative resolution to the “non-persistent bypass” problem that was interfering with the development of iOS 11.3.1 Electra jailbreak. Aside from that, it could also mean that if all the things go well, and if the Cupertino-based tech company doesn’t discover the bug internally, an iOS 12 jailbreak may be available.
As of now, what can we do is to hope that Apple will not discover this until the company rolls out the iOS 12. Hopefully, after an iOS 11.3.1 Electra jailbreak release, we’ll see an iOS 12 jailbreak. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
