AirPlay 2 Will Still be Compatible With AirPort Express in iOS 12
Last year, the Wi-Fi audio streaming tech AirPlay 2 from the tech giant Apple was announced during the company’s Worldwide Developer’s Conference (WWDC). Then now, it seems to be discontinued, as many kept on speculating.
According to AppleInsider, the impression of how the AirPort Express in the Home app looks just got verified in the first iOS 12 Beta. It is expected to have the 2012 redesign. When the device was tapped, the HomeKit peripheral is not there anymore, visibly failing differently from the first time around.
After the second iOS 12 beta, an alert pops out in the Home app. This indicates and notifies the user to do an update of the AirPort Express, which needs to be applied. Even so, this is no longer seen. Unfortunately, the app did not work the same as before when the first beta did.
It was just last December that the AirPort express got its latest update. At that time, the audio streaming tech was not yet being tested. Meanwhile, the AirPort patch occurred better after the first round of its technology was tested and before the abortive second round happened. The iOS 11.3 betas got removed nearly the end of the cycle.
This last update also occurred before the KRACK fix to the AirPort Express got delivered last two years ago. So, this recent update now is already the third time that it appeared as a HomeKit accessory with the possibility of an audio streaming tech target in the future. It was withdrawn about two weeks ago when the first iOS 11.4 beta took place.
The company seems to be killing off the entire AirPort line ever since it first appeared. In the iOS 12, the process is a good indicator that the AirPlay 2 is highly compatible for wired speakers. Then, the devices were tested again, but none appeared in the Home app.
