8 Exciting Things Announced at Microsoft's E3 2018 Xbox Event
With the tease of the release of a new Xbox device, Microsoft’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2018 press event for the console went into the video game industry’s biggest annual event as one of the most anticipated pressers. The company did not disappoint. Not only did they announce that a new Xbox is coming, they also revealed more or less 50 games and 20 exclusives for the follow-up to the Xbox One X.
The massive reveal was said to be Microsoft’s attempt to remind video game fans that it still can hold its own compared to its greatest competitors Nintendo Wii and PlayStation 4. These are eight of the best things that Microsoft announced for its upcoming Xbox console:
A new trailer for ‘Halo Infinite’
One of the highlights of the Xbox E3 2018 briefing is the first trailer of the next installment of the massively popular Halo franchise, according to Variety. While the trailer was shorter than expected, it is enough to give fans a peek into the lush new visuals of the game.
Game mash-up of the most popular animes
Anime lovers will be delighted with Jump Force. Developer Namco Bandai made every anime fans’ dreams come true by bringing together characters from well-liked properties like Naruto, Death Note, Dragon Ball Z and One Piece. There is no confirmation yet whether the game will be an exclusive for the Xbox but it already has anime fandoms buzzing.
Thirty years after the release of Battletoads, a remake of the cult classic is currently in development with Dlala Studios.
Sequel to ‘Ori and the Blind Forest’
If there is one game that will make you cry, it may be the sequel to Ori and the Blind Forest. Called Ori and the Will of the Wisps, it has a cute owl as one of its new characters and delivers a combination of acrobatics and combat in its debut trailer.
‘Cyberpunk 2077’ trailer
Set in the worst place in America, Cyberpunk 2077 is considered by many experts as a visual departure from its predecessor. Audiences will have to wait a bit longer, however, as the developers have not divulged a release date.
Long-awaited look at ‘Kingdom Hearts 3’
It took thirteen years but finally, Kingdom Hearts 3 has a release date. It is said that the game, which features Elsa. Rapunzel and even Wreck-It-Ralph are out on January 29, 2019.
Microsoft’s major studio acquisitions
Microsoft is intensifying its efforts to increase its market share with its purchase of five major game development studios, according to Forbes. One of these studios is Ninja Theory, famous for creating the hit Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. Microsoft also acquired Undead Labs (State of Decay 2), Compulsion Games (We Happy Few), Playground Games (Forza Horizon 4) and new studio The Initiative.
First footage from ‘Fallout 76’
While Fallout 76 is nowhere near done yet, Todd Howard of Bethesda Softworks did reveal that the prequel to the Fallout franchise will be set in West Virginia. An initial footage was shown to the crowd.
